Gujarat Village School Launches Advanced Robotics Lab Under PM Shri Scheme
Edited by: Olha 12 Yo
The educational landscape in rural Gujarat is undergoing a significant transformation, highlighted by the recent establishment of a sophisticated Robotics Laboratory at the PM Shri K.B. Shah Anupam Primary School in Vithoda village, Mehsana district. This development, implemented under the broader PM Shri scheme, marks a conscious effort to extend cutting-edge technological education beyond urban centers and ensure equitable access for all young learners.
The core of this educational upgrade involves providing practical, hands-on robotics instruction to students in classes 5 through 8. Under the direction of trained educators, these students are actively constructing small robotic models, thereby gaining direct experience with sensors and programmed commands. This practical engagement is designed to deepen comprehension of scientific principles by translating theoretical knowledge into tangible, functional reality.
Robotics Teacher Mahendra Kumar Patel noted that the lab serves to demystify the process of robot creation and the materials utilized in the construction. Echoing this enthusiasm, student Maheta Yana Kalpeshkumar expressed the joy derived from understanding function and application through direct material manipulation. This technological infusion is part of a holistic modernization effort at the school, which also includes new Science and Maths Labs, smart boards, and improved sports facilities, including an indoor games stadium, according to Principal Prajapati Kanubhai Bhikhabhail.
This comprehensive approach aligns with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020, which seeks the complete development of the student. The PM Shri scheme, a central government initiative, aims to modernize over 14,500 schools nationwide to foster 21st-century skills. The introduction of robotics in this village setting reflects a national drive to bridge the digital divide, mirroring other initiatives that prepare the next generation for a technology-centric future through proactive investment in rural potential.
