Bartın University plans to generate its own electricity through a new renewable energy project.
In 2023, the university applied for World Bank funding, leading to an assessment of suitable energy production areas at the Kutlubey Campus.
The evaluation included a visit from electrical engineer Batuhan Aksoy from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, along with representatives from the consulting firm and university officials.
The preliminary review identified the open parking lot of the Faculty of Sports Sciences and the parking lots across from the Faculty of Education and Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences as meeting the criteria for a solar energy efficiency project.
University officials emphasized their commitment to sustainability and renewable energy transformation, aiming to produce clean energy on campus. Rector Prof. Dr. Orhan Uzun highlighted the importance of adapting solar energy systems to achieve a greener and cleaner future.
