CIA Director John Ratcliffe confirmed on Wednesday that the United States has stopped sharing intelligence with Ukraine. This decision followed President Trump's pause on military aid to Kyiv during its ongoing conflict with Russia. President Trump initiated the halt on military aid after a public disagreement with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky regarding a joint economic investment in rare-earth minerals. The Ukrainian leader was also reportedly removed from a White House event before the signing of an agreement. Ratcliffe stated that the pause on both military aid and intelligence was implemented because President Trump questioned Zelensky's commitment to the peace process. He indicated that the suspension is intended to encourage peace negotiations. President Zelensky sent a letter to President Trump expressing Ukraine's readiness for peace, which Trump and Vice President JD Vance had been awaiting. While Ukrainian officials claim they can resist Russian forces without American assistance until the summer, the duration of the intelligence sharing suspension remains uncertain.
