Culinary historian and cookbook author, Chef Bridget White-Kumar, is set to host a special pop-up event celebrating the rich heritage of Anglo-Indian cuisine at the Renaissance Bengaluru Race Course Hotel. The event will take place at LUSH, the hotel's restaurant, from July 29 to July 31, 2025.
This culinary showcase will explore the unique fusion of Indian and British culinary traditions that defines Anglo-Indian food. Chef White-Kumar, who originates from Karnataka's 'Little England' and has authored eight acclaimed cookbooks on the subject, is dedicated to preserving and reviving these often-overlooked recipes. Her work has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards.
The curated menu will feature classic Anglo-Indian dishes such as the Railway Vegetable Cutlet served with Devil Relish Chutney, Mutton Meatball Ball Curry, and Bread Pudding with Vanilla Ice Cream. These dishes exemplify the historical adaptation of Indian ingredients and spices to suit British palates, creating a distinct and flavorful cuisine that emerged during the period of British rule in India.
The Renaissance Bengaluru Race Course Hotel is currently undergoing renovations from July 1 to October 31, 2025. Guests are advised to check the hotel's official website for any updates regarding the pop-up event or potential changes due to the ongoing renovations.
