Filmmaker Uwe Boll is set to release two distinct thrillers in 2025: 'Run' and 'Citizen Vigilante.' These films represent a significant period for the director, known for his thematic depth.

'Run,' a thriller focusing on Europe's migrant crisis, weaves a narrative through the experiences of individuals affected by the situation. Filmed on Croatia's Krk island and completing principal photography in May 2024, the film features an ensemble cast including Amanda Plummer, James Russo, Ulrich Thomsen, and Barkhad Abdi. 'Run' is scheduled for a global digital release on November 14, 2025.

'Citizen Vigilante,' an action-thriller produced, written, and directed by Boll, stars Armie Hammer as Sanders, a character who gains viral fame for his vigilantism. The film was initially titled 'The Dark Knight' but was renamed to avoid confusion with existing intellectual property. Filming for 'Citizen Vigilante' began in Croatia on January 27, 2025.

The cast of 'Run' includes acclaimed actors such as Amanda Plummer, known for her roles in 'Pulp Fiction' and 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire'; James Russo, with a career spanning decades and appearances in 'My Own Private Idaho' and 'Donnie Brasco'; Ulrich Thomsen, recognized for 'The Celebration' and 'The International'; and Barkhad Abdi, an Academy Award nominee for 'Captain Phillips.' Armie Hammer leads 'Citizen Vigilante,' a casting choice that garnered considerable attention. The title change from 'The Dark Knight' to 'Citizen Vigilante' followed discussions with Warner Bros. to prevent any association with their established characters, a strategic rebranding to define the film's unique identity within the vigilantism subgenre.

Both 'Run' and 'Citizen Vigilante' are anticipated to offer thought-provoking narratives and are positioned as key releases for 2025. These projects indicate Boll's continued interest in exploring contemporary societal themes through genre filmmaking.
