ARD Mediathek Presents New Series This Fall

This autumn, the ARD Mediathek is launching a compelling slate of new and returning series.

Headlining the offerings is "Herrhausen - The Money Man," a crime drama set to premiere on September 30, 2024. The series explores the ambitious life of financial expert Alfred Herrhausen in the 1980s. Directed by Pia Strietmann and starring Oliver Masucci, it delves into the intricate political and economic landscape of the era. Herrhausen, who was the Chairman of Deutsche Bank and an advisor to Chancellor Helmut Kohl, was known for advocating debt relief for developing nations and fostering ties with Eastern European countries. His influential role placed him at the center of significant historical events, including the lead-up to German reunification. Herrhausen was assassinated on November 30, 1989, in an attack attributed to the Red Army Faction, though the perpetrators were never definitively identified.

Following this historical drama, the ARD Mediathek will release the 9th season of the comedy series "Hubert und Staller" on October 2, 2025. The show continues to entertain audiences with its characteristic blend of humor and crime-solving in the Bavarian town of Wolfratshausen. The series, which began in 2011, was later retitled "Hubert ohne Staller" after a key character's departure.
