Finland's Nokia is negotiating a multi-billion dollar contract to supply 5G telecom equipment to India's Bharti Airtel, according to sources familiar with the discussions.
Ericsson has already secured a similar contract with Airtel, highlighting the competitive landscape for telecom equipment in India. Nokia's potential deal would involve its latest AirScale mobile radios, designed to upgrade existing networks to 5G-Advanced while reducing energy costs.
Nokia's shares rose by 3% following reports of the contract talks. The company is set to release its third-quarter earnings this Thursday.
