WRC2 Championship Title Decided at Rally Japan

The 2024 FIA World Rally Championship is set to conclude with the Rally Japan, taking place from November 21 to 24. Oliver Solberg, the current leader in the WRC2 category, will not participate in the season finale due to reaching the maximum allowed number of seven point-scoring rallies. This absence opens the door for his sole title rival, Sami Pajari, to potentially claim the championship.

Solberg has secured three WRC2 victories this season, alongside two second-place finishes and one fourth-place result. His teammate at Toksport WRT, Gus Greensmith, along with Kajetan Kajetanowicz, will compete in Japan, aiming to disrupt Pajari’s title hopes. Greensmith is seeking his second WRC2 victory of the year, having previously won the Safari Rally in Kenya.

Pajari, currently 15 points behind Solberg, needs to finish in at least second place to have a chance at the title. A third-place finish would leave him tied on points with Solberg, but the latter would still claim the championship based on his superior number of second-place finishes.

The Rally Japan features a total of 21 special stages covering 302 kilometers of challenging asphalt roads. The event will kick off with a spectacular stadium spectator stage on the evening of November 21, followed by multiple stages over the following days, culminating in the awards ceremony on November 24.
