Typhoon Gaemi made its second landfall in China on Thursday evening, bringing heavy rains and floods to several regions. In Fujian Province, over 500 people were relocated to designated shelters in Jiangyin Town, Fuqing City, as the typhoon brought continuous torrential rains. The provincial meteorological bureau of Fujian announced that the typhoon landed in Putian at around 7:50 p.m. Thursday. In northeast China's Liaoning Province, over 14,500 people were relocated following an orange alert for rainstorms. The province recorded an accumulative precipitation of up to 240.1 millimeters and hourly precipitation of 55.3 millimeters from Thursday evening to Friday morning. The heavy downpours disrupted traffic on several roads and highways, and local railway authorities adopted measures to ensure safety, including train speed reduction and temporary service suspension. Shenyang, the provincial capital of Liaoning, experienced its heaviest downpour since meteorological records began in 1951, with an average precipitation of 124.5 millimeters as of Friday morning. The record-breaking downpours were partly intensified by moisture carried by the peripheral currents of Typhoon Gaemi. In neighboring Jilin Province, two rescuers, including a vice mayor of Linjiang City, remain missing following mountain torrents triggered by heavy downpours.
