Mexican Peso Weakened Against US Dollar on Friday Following Job Loss Data

The Mexican peso weakened against the US dollar on Friday, closing at 20.57 after falling to 20.61 during the day. This decline followed the release of US employment data that showed job losses in January were much bigger than expected.

The US dollar strengthened after the data showed that the unemployment rate fell to 4% in January from 4.1% the month prior, but only 143,000 new jobs were created in January. This supported the US Federal Reserve's decision to hold stable on interest rates.

The peso's decline comes after a volatile week that saw the currency fluctuate in response to various economic factors, including tariff threats from US President Donald Trump, an interest rate decision by Mexico's central bank, and mixed investment data.
