Boeing Warns of Layoffs in NASA's Moon Rocket Program

Boeing has warned of potential layoffs in its Space Launch System (SLS) moon rocket program. The Seattle-based aerospace giant stated that around 400 jobs could be eliminated by April due to adjustments in NASA's Artemis program and cost projections.

A Boeing spokesperson said, "We are working with our customer and exploring opportunities to redeploy employees within our company to minimize job losses."

NASA established the Artemis program during Donald Trump's first term, marking a significant American effort to return astronauts to the moon for the first time since 1972. However, the program has faced challenges for years, including high costs, technical issues, and a complex mission plan.

In November 2022, the SLS rocket made its maiden launch after over a decade of development. The launch sent an uncrewed capsule around the moon as part of the first major test flight for Artemis.
