Indonesia's Minister of Agriculture, Amran Sulaiman, has announced that the country has 2 million tons of rice in stock, ensuring sufficient supply ahead of Ramadan. The government is also purchasing 3 million tons of paddy rice from farmers until April. The Minister also stated that rice prices are currently below those seen in the lead-up to Ramadan last year, reaching around Rp12,000 per kilogram, down from Rp16,000 per kilogram in 2018. This price decline is attributed to a significant increase in rice production, as reported by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). The government also assures that meat stocks are secure for the upcoming Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
