Volker Türk, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, expressed grave concerns for civilians in Ukraine, particularly in Kyiv, as Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure continue.
In a recent address, Türk highlighted the relentless assaults on hospitals, schools, and supermarkets, which have led to widespread power outages across the country. He stated, "In Ukraine, civilians are trapped in cycles of terror," emphasizing the urgent need for humanitarian access.
Türk also criticized Russia for denying access to areas affected by the conflict, including the regions of Belgorod, Briansk, and Koursk. He noted that despite repeated requests for access to both Russian and Ukrainian territories, there has been no positive response from Russian authorities.
As winter approaches, Türk fears the worsening conditions for Ukrainians, urging the international community to take action to protect civilians amid the ongoing conflict.
