Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has reiterated calls for Western support to attack Russian military airfields deep within Russia, citing the necessity to counter ongoing Russian airstrikes on Ukrainian cities.
Following recent attacks, Zelensky emphasized that the only way to halt Russian bombings is to target their military infrastructure. He stated that a Ukrainian delegation is negotiating with U.S. officials about long-range weaponry, providing a list of potential targets for these strikes.
In Kharkiv, six people were reported killed and 99 injured due to a Russian airstrike on a residential building. Zelensky urged Western nations, including the U.S., UK, France, and Germany, to enable Ukraine to protect its citizens effectively.
Ukrainian forces are currently engaged in intense battles along the frontlines, particularly near Pokrovsk in the Donbas region, where Russian units have launched multiple artillery-supported attacks. Ukrainian defenses have reportedly repelled these assaults.
Meanwhile, heavy Russian artillery bombardments have been reported in the Sumy region, affecting at least 15 settlements. The region is crucial for supply lines supporting Ukrainian troops operating in the Kursk area.
In the Kursk region, Ukrainian forces claim to have captured around 100 settlements, including the town of Sudzha, which is now a command center for their operations. Russian authorities have reported casualties and significant evacuations due to the conflict.
The situation remains critical, with both sides preparing for continued hostilities as diplomatic efforts for a ceasefire seem stalled.
