Mexico Condemns Israeli Attacks in Gaza and Calls for Ceasefire

On Wednesday, the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned Israel's ongoing operations against schools and essential infrastructure in Gaza, expressing deep regret over the civilian casualties resulting from such attacks. The ministry stated that these actions are in complete violation of international humanitarian law.

Mexico's government has called for a ceasefire and the initiation of negotiations to resolve the ongoing conflict. This condemnation comes in light of a recent Israeli airstrike that targeted a school in the al-Daraj neighborhood of Gaza, resulting in over 100 Palestinian deaths and numerous injuries.

Approximately 200 Palestinian refugees were praying at the targeted school during the attack, where Israel reportedly dropped three bombs, each weighing nearly 500 kilograms. James Kariuki, the UK Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, highlighted the lack of safe spaces for Palestinians in Gaza during a recent Security Council meeting. The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) reported that Israel has bombed more than half of the schools housing Gaza refugees over the past ten months.

This situation underscores the urgent need for international diplomatic efforts to establish a lasting peace and protect civilian lives in the region.
