The Vodun Days, an international celebration of Vodun arts, culture, and spirituality, took place in Ouidah, Benin, from January 9th to 11th, 2025. This year's event, the second edition, saw a remarkable surge in participation, attracting over 435,000 attendees, a significant increase from the 97,000 visitors in 2024.
The three-day festival featured a rich tapestry of cultural festivities and artistic expressions, showcasing the vibrant traditions of Vodun. The event was held at various historical and sacred sites in Ouidah, including the Place Maro, the Esplanade of the French Fort, the Mami Temple, the Temple of Pythons, the Sacred Forest of Kpassé, the Sakpata Convent, and the Door of No Return at the beach.
The Vodun Days 2025 not only celebrated the rich artistic, cultural, and religious heritage of Benin but also reinforced the country's ambitious vision of becoming a major tourist destination in Africa.
