AI's Role in Future Telecom Highlighted at India Mobile Congress 2024

New Delhi, October 16: At the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2024, global leaders emphasized the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in telecommunications. The event, running from October 15 to 18, showcases over 400 exhibitors and participation from more than 120 countries.

Mats Granryd, Director General of GSMA, noted the importance of understanding AI's complexity and the need for ethical considerations in its deployment. He highlighted India's leading role in 5G technology, which is crucial for future connectivity.

Intel's Udayan Mukherjee discussed AI's evolving role in telecom, particularly in enhancing processes and supporting 6G research. He emphasized the need for AI-driven solutions that enable predictive maintenance and real-time problem-solving.

Qualcomm's Alex Rogers pointed out the impact of 5G on data consumption in India and the potential of edge AI to alleviate power demands in data centers. He stated that shifting AI workloads to edge devices could lead to more sustainable computing.

Nokia's Vito Di Maria addressed the challenges of digitalization in India, particularly in data generation and infrastructure. He emphasized the importance of scalable solutions to support the country's digital growth.
