Documentary 'Five Hours with the Five' Recalls Fidel Castro's Meeting with Cuban Antiterrorist Fighters

A documentary titled 'Five Hours with the Five,' which chronicles the meeting between Fidel Castro and five Cuban intelligence officers, premiered in Havana on March 13. The film, directed by Yunet Pérez, was presented at the Fidel Castro Center with the presence of René González, Ramón Labañino, and Gerardo Hernández, three of the five Cubans convicted in Miami, Florida of conspiracy to commit espionage, conspiracy to commit murder, acting as an agent of a foreign government, and other illegal activities in the United States. Antonio Guerrero and Fernando González complete the group, arrested on September 12, 1998. The documentary shares the impressions of the 'Heroes of the Republic of Cuba' regarding their meeting with Fidel Castro on February 28, 2015, after their return to the island following an agreement between the Cuban and U.S. governments. During the presentation, González, Labañino, and Hernández shared their experiences of being received by Castro. They emphasized Castro's dedication to their cause and the pressures they faced. The documentary also covers the judicial process and their imprisonment in U.S. federal prisons.
