US Approves $825 Million Arms Sale to Ukraine, Including Advanced Missiles
Edited by: Dmitry Drozd
The United States State Department has approved a significant foreign military sale to Ukraine, valued at approximately $825 million. This package will deliver 50,000 Extended Range Attack Munition (ERAM) missiles, enhancing Ukraine's defensive capabilities.
The ERAM missiles, capable of engaging targets up to 460 kilometers away, are equipped with a 225-kilogram warhead designed to neutralize hardened infrastructure and command centers deep within occupied territories. This acquisition aims to bolster Ukraine's capacity for self-defense and regional security operations.
The sale is jointly funded by NATO allies Denmark, the Netherlands, and Norway, with additional support from U.S. Foreign Military Financing. This approval occurs at a critical juncture, following deliberations on U.S. military aid and amidst heightened Russian offensive actions.
This initiative follows previous U.S. arms sales in July, totaling $322 million, which focused on air defense systems and armored vehicles. The coordinated international support, including initiatives like the NATO Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL), underscores a unified commitment to fortifying Ukraine's resilience.
