Arab League Endorses Egyptian Plan for Gaza Reconstruction Amidst Trump's Proposal

The Arab League, during an extraordinary summit in Cairo on Tuesday, endorsed an Egyptian plan for the reconstruction of Gaza, estimated at $53 billion. The plan aims to ensure that Palestinian residents are not displaced. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi stated that the plan would guarantee Gaza citizens' right to "stay on their land." The proposal includes forming an administrative committee of independent Palestinian professionals to oversee Gaza's affairs, paving the way for the return of the Palestinian National Authority. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed strong support for the Egyptian initiative. This plan is presented as an alternative to the widely criticized proposal by former U.S. President Donald Trump to control the war-torn Palestinian territory and potentially displace its inhabitants. King Abdullah II of Jordan and Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid also voiced their support for the Egyptian plan.
