EU Parliament President Metsola Visits Israel and Palestine Amid Ceasefire Efforts

European Parliament President Roberta Metsola arrived in Jerusalem on February 13th for a series of meetings in Israel and the Palestinian territories. The visit aims to bolster efforts towards a lasting ceasefire and the release of hostages. Metsola stated on X that Europe is ready to intensify its commitment and do everything possible to ensure the ceasefire and hostage release agreement remains valid. She emphasized the importance of providing a path towards increased aid and a fundamental element for sustainable peace. During her visit, Metsola met with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar and visited the European Union Border Assistance Mission for the Rafah Crossing (EUBAM Rafah). She also visited the site of the Nova Festival, the location of the Hamas terrorist attacks on October 7, 2023. On Friday, Metsola met with Palestinian leaders in Ramallah. She also met with released hostages, their families, and victims of the conflict.
