Edited by: user1@asd.asd user1@asd.asd

The humanitarian crisis in Sudan has reached catastrophic levels, with millions facing famine, violence, and disease, according to recent reports from UNICEF and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). The ongoing conflict between the Sudanese army (SAF) and Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which began in April 2023, has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and displaced over 12 million people. UNICEF reports that over 30 million people, including more than half of the country's children, are affected by the crisis. Child rights violations are rampant, with over 900 cases recorded between June and December 2024, 80% of which involved killings or maiming. An estimated 12.1 million women and girls are at risk of sexual violence, marking an 80% increase from the previous year. Hospitals are overwhelmed, and conditions are dire, as described by Christopher Lockyear, Secretary General of MSF. Both organizations are appealing for an immediate and sustained response, including increased funding and the full redeployment of UN humanitarian agencies to address the escalating crisis.
