Ursula von der Leyen Loses Court Fight Over Pfizer Text Messages; Ukrainian Men Arrested in Germany for Alleged Sabotage Plot

Edited by: Eugeniy Konovalov

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has lost a court battle against the disclosure of text messages exchanged with the CEO of Pfizer Inc. during negotiations for large-scale vaccine deals at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. The EU's General Court in Luxembourg supported a challenge by the New York Times, citing the Commission's failure to provide a justifiable reason for not possessing the messages.

In Germany, three Ukrainian men have been arrested on suspicion of acting as foreign agents and planning acts of sabotage, including arson and the shipment of explosive devices. German investigators believe the suspects were in contact with individuals linked to Russian state institutions.
