Spain's Green Hydrogen Hub

Chinese green energy firm Envision Group is investing USD 1 billion to develop Europe's first net zero industrial park for green hydrogen in Spain. This initiative aims to decarbonize the industrial and transportation sectors.

The industrial park will focus on eco-friendly hydrogen production methods, including water electrolysis and biomass extraction. It will feature processes like electrolysis, air separation, ammonia synthesis, and scalable green ammonia production.

Powered by locally generated clean energy from biomass, solar, and wind, the facility is designed to create a sustainable industrial ecosystem. Construction is set to begin in the first half of 2026.

This project is expected to significantly boost Spain's green hydrogen adoption and help achieve a 23% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. It is part of a broader cooperation agreement between Envision and the Spanish government, which also includes plans for a battery super factory and a smart wind power equipment base.

Envision currently operates a zero-carbon hydrogen ammonia industrial park in Inner Mongolia, with an output of 300,000 tons of green ammonia initiated in March 2024. Additionally, a lithium iron phosphate battery factory is under construction in Navalmoral de la Mata, Spain, expected to launch in 2026.
