Curiosity Rover Spots Unusual Clouds on Mars

In March 2021, NASA's Curiosity rover observed clouds forming earlier and at higher altitudes than usual on Mars. Unlike typical Martian clouds composed of water ice, these clouds, located over Mount Sharp, are believed to consist of frozen carbon dioxide, or dry ice, due to the extreme cold at their altitude. Martian days are called sol and a year on Mars lasts 669.6 sol, equivalent to 687 Earth days.
