Malaysia: LPG Subsidy Amendments for Small Traders

Edited by: Dmitry Drozd

Malaysia's Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living is amending regulations to support micro and small-scale food and beverage traders.

These amendments, expected by October 31, 2025, allow continued use of subsidized LPG without permits during the transition.

The decision follows "Ops Gasak," targeting illegal LPG activities, with enforcement focused on intended targets.

The ministry engaged with 10 food and beverage associations for feedback.

The Malaysian Chinese Association welcomed the postponement of permit requirements.
