The preservation of the historic church in Ruchow, Germany, built in 1275, is being spearheaded by the "Historische Orgel zu Ruchow" association. Hubertus von Streit has been elected as the new chairman, succeeding Stefanie von Laer, who founded the association nine years ago.
The association's primary goal is to maintain the church's two organs, including the Schmidt organ from 1796 and a Baroque organ positive by Jochim Richborn from 1684. The association also takes care of the church's surroundings, cleaning the building, weeding, and repairing the pews.
The association organizes concerts in the church, contributing to the "Musik in alten Mauern" series, which features concerts in various old village churches. Hubertus von Streit plans to introduce new ways to communicate the association's program and initiatives, including creating a website.
Special concerts are planned for the year, starting in May. A concert on July 19 will mark the handover from Stefanie von Laer to Hubertus von Streit, featuring Baroque music and a service led by Bishop Tilman Jeremias.
