The Hotel La Ermita Suites in Córdoba, Spain, has received the Best Hotel 2024 award for its meticulous restoration, which included recovering the building's carpentry. The hotel is a union of three historical buildings: the Ermita de la Concepción (1700), the Casa del Santero (1753), and a 1412 Judeo-Convert house. The restoration involved specialists from the Museo del Prado, the University of Córdoba, and the Mezquita-Catedral. In Mosul, Iraq, the historic Al-Nouri Mosque and its iconic leaning minaret are being rebuilt with support from the UAE and UNESCO. The project, titled "Reviving the Spirit of Mosul," also includes the restoration of the Al-Tahera Church and Al-Saa'a Church. The UAE has committed over $50 million to restore cultural heritage sites in Mosul, including the Al-Nouri Mosque, dating back to 1172, and the Al-Tahera Church, which is around 800 years old.
