Fire Breaks Out in Chernobyl Zone Near Kyiv Amid Strong Winds

A significant fire has erupted in the Chernobyl zone near Kyiv, exacerbated by strong winds.

Emergency services are actively working to contain the blaze, with 399 firefighters and 103 units of equipment deployed from various regions, including Kyiv and surrounding areas.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, according to officials from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

Heavy engineering equipment is being utilized to create mineralized strips to help control the fire's spread.

Recent reports indicated that the area affected by the fire has expanded significantly, with over 2600 hectares burned.

This incident highlights ongoing environmental challenges in the region, particularly in areas impacted by past nuclear activity.
