The recognizable Toys 'R' Us sign from the former Copdock Interchange store in Ipswich is set to be auctioned off. The sign, visible from the A12 and A14, will be removed as redevelopment begins on the site, which will soon house a new M&S store.
Ipswich Borough Council hopes the sign will find a new home with someone who appreciates its nostalgic value. The proceeds from the auction will be used to support local council services.
The store, which first opened in the early 1990s, was a popular destination for families in the area. It closed its doors in 2018. The new M&S store is expected to open in 2027 and will feature food, clothing, household goods, and a café.
