India is prominently featured at the Cannes Film Festival 2025, showcasing a blend of cinematic history and contemporary talent. Satyajit Ray's 'Aranyer Din Ratri' (1970) has been restored and will be screened in the Cannes Classics section, with Sharmila Tagore and Simi Garewal in attendance. Nitanshi Goel, recognized for her role in 'Laapataa Ladies,' is making her Cannes debut as one of the youngest Indian actors. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, a Cannes veteran, is also attending. Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khattar are expected to be present for the premiere of Neeraj Ghaywan's 'Homebound'. Adding to India's representation, Kokob Gebrehaweria Tesfay's short film, 'A Doll Made Up of Clay,' which explores the lives of African migrants in India, is competing in the La Cinef section. This diverse showcase highlights India's increasing impact on the global film scene.
