Key investors include Microsoft, SoftBank, and Nvidia, with Microsoft as the largest cumulative investor at over $13 billion. The funds will enhance OpenAI's AI research, focusing on large language models and computing power.
Despite projected losses of around $5 billion this year, OpenAI aims to drive AI innovation and may explore hardware development, including its own machine learning chips.
CFO Sarah Friar stated, "This credit facility further strengthens our balance sheet and provides flexibility to seize future growth opportunities." The investment positions OpenAI at the forefront of the AI sector amidst competition.
