Upcoming Film Releases Highlighting Cultural Narratives

Two notable films, "نجات سینما" and "طهران روزگار نو," are set to premiere on a prominent Iranian channel, coinciding with a national cinema day. Directed by سارا شوگرمن, "نجات سینما" tells the true story of Liz Evans, a hairdresser and youth theater leader in Carmarthen, Wales, who launched a campaign in 1993 to prevent the closure of the Lyric Cinema. The film features performances by actors such as جاناتان پرایس and سامانتا مورتون and will be broadcasted on a Tuesday evening.

In addition, "طهران روزگار نو," directed by the late علی حاتمی, will air later that evening. This film, adapted from the series "هزاردستان," explores historical events in Tehran before the significant political changes of the early 20th century. It includes performances from notable actors such as داود رشیدی and محمدعلی کشاورز.

Meanwhile, in Lithuania, two documentary films have been showcased at the OKO festival in Ukraine after extensive travels through international festivals. The first, "Kalėdų eglutės gyvenimas ir mirtis," directed by Arturas Jevdokimovas, chronicles the journey of Christmas trees from seed collection in Georgia to their cultivation in Denmark. This film emphasizes the interconnected lives of its subjects and will be available in Lithuanian theaters starting December 6.

The second documentary, "Poema mažiems žmonėms," produced by Jevdokimovas and Ringailė Leščinskienė, highlights various forms of resistance against Russian aggression in Ukraine. Both films reflect a vibrant cultural exchange and the resilience of filmmakers amidst challenging circumstances.
